When you picture a sauna, is your first thought of a small, steamy and suffocating room? Take these prior expectations of a sauna (steam room), and instead replace them with this: A comfortable wooden bench, a gentle warmth that heats you from the inside out, a comfortable and breathable atmosphere and the feeling of instant relaxation for both your mind and your body. Sounds much better, right? That’s what an Infrared Sauna feels like.
In our cleansing clinic, we have installed a Full Spectrum Sauna by Australian-owned company ‘Found-Space’. This state-of-the-art sauna offers a full glass front creating a sense of openness and space, along with colour light therapy, Bluetooth to listen to sounds for relaxation or to bring you joy, along with a holder to diffuse essential oils adding extra health and healing benefits.

Saunas help rid the body of toxins while cleansing the skin with excess sweating; infrared saunas become important, targeting subdermal fat cells with infrared light. Not only are you sweating out toxins, but with infrared light, you’re targeting toxins lurking in your fat cells that would have otherwise gone untouched. Infrared saunas not only help the lymphatic system target toxins stored in fat cells but they’ve also been proven to accelerate weight loss, relieve sore muscles and joints, reduce stress and fatigue and improve skin complexion and tone.
Infrared Sauna use also increases circulation to facilitate better recovery, releases heat shock proteins to promote muscle growth due to heat stress and increases your body’s time to fatigue resulting in increased endurance. Additionally, heat stress causes your body to release the same chemical that causes "the runner’s high." Saunas are an easy way to boost performance while relaxing.
During a sauna session, white blood cells increase in the bloodstream, suggesting an elevation of the body’s natural defence against illness.
Without sunlight, life would cease to exist. Only a small percentage of all sunlight is visible, and less than 2% of that is infrared... that’s the good stuff. Using our ‘Found-Space’ Far Infrared Sauna is like getting a dose of health-giving sunlight without the ultraviolet light that burns your skin. We feel infrared light as heat. Infrared works by heating the body directly, warming us safely to elevate cardiovascular activity and remove heavy metals and toxins through our sweat. An infrared sauna is different to steam or hot rock saunas. It heats the body at a more comfortable temperature (40 to 70C) without filling our lungs with hot steam that can often be up to 90C.
Health Benefits of Infrared Sauna
eliminates cholesterol build-up, heavy metals and other toxins
relaxation, reduces cortisol and mediates anxiety
burn up to 600 calories per session
increase core temperature, which increases cardiovascular output
reduces inflammation and improves blood circulation
cellular renewal increases collagen production and elastin in the skin
Many clients appreciate a Colonic followed by an Infrared Sauna session on the same day!
Yes, infrared saunas are safe for most people to use. However, there are a few things to keep in mind if you have certain health conditions or are pregnant. Consult with your doctor before using an infrared sauna if you have any concerns. Other than that, just be sure to drink plenty of water and stay hydrated while using the sauna.
There is no definitive answer to this question as it will vary depending on the individual and their specific goals. In the clinic there are two Infrared Sauna session offerings. Some people will find that 20 minutes per session is a good starting point, this is the Express session. Those who are seeking more intense detoxification or other health benefits may want to increase their time to 45 minutes per session, this is the most popular. As always, be sure to listen to your body and stop if you feel any discomfort.
It isn't necessary to wear any clothing in the sauna. If you do wear a bikini or shorts etc bring a plastic bag to take the wet items home in. Towels are provided. If you have any essential oils bring them for use in the designated oil holder in the sauna. Most importantly please bring a large 1L bottle of water to consume during your sauna session.
